June TBR list

Hey y’all! What are you reading this weekend? Here’s my June TBR/haul. I’m sure I won’t be getting into all of these by even the end of July as I’m reading slowly. Investing my time in writing so bear with my slow book reviews.

The Kept Woman by Karin Slaughter

Recently I’ve been eyeing this book at my local pharmacy. They have a bestseller section. The cover alone has a certain pull to it.  I don’t want to spoil these books for myself so I didn’t look at any thorough reviews. From what I understand this is a thriller, there’s a murder and it might be connected to a detective’s past. Yeah, that’s what you get from me…I avoid spoilers like the plague because I know I won’t read it if I know details.

Shatter Me by Taherah Mafi

I’ll be honest, I’m not really interested in this book but there was a hype around it on Booktube so I thought why not check it out at some point? It’s about a girl named Juliette who is locked up for murder who doesn’t touch anyone because the last time she did, she landed up locked up.

Into The Water – Paula Hawkins

This is one I’m excited about because I absolutely loved The Girl on The Train. Not that it’s the same or anything but when I like an author, I like them a lot. A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Friendship between a group of four friends turns destructive.

There are tons of books in my TBR pile that I want to share with you but as I can’t share them all at once, I break them into monthly TBRs. Happy reading and have a great weekend!

Current Reads and more on my TBR list

I am currently reading Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens as part of my childhood read-overs project. Another one I want to revisit soon is Moby Dick. I really want to experience these books as an adult to see how I feel about them after two decades or so.

In my earlier post, I talked about how Miss Peregrine’s dragged on for three weeks because it didn’t capture my attention so hopefully I get to cross one or two books off my May TBR list. Being stuck on one book for three weeks doesn’t help my yearly book challenge either. But I’m not a total failure quite yet…we still have some time.

  1. The Dark Artifices by Casandra Clare
  2. Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard Books 1 & 2
  3. Holiday Wishes – Nora Roberts
  4. Birthright – Nora Roberts

Please don’t judge my strange tastes in books. I love a good romance or contemporary as well 🙂

Happy Reading!

May TBR List…books books books whoooo!

Good Friday folks! It’s a beautiful day out but I am inside tidying the explosion my tiny humans make ten times daily. How was your week? How is your Friday going so far and what are your plans like this weekend?

Most Importantly….what are you reading????

I am currently reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I’ve actually started this book maybe a week ago or almost a week ago but I’m reading super slow….I get so tired at night(ugh) especially now that my toddler has learned to climb out of her crib.(Sigh) Hopefully I can make some headway with this book in the next couple of days so I can get started on my May reading.(yay!)

Note: I don’t complete my entire TBR list each month(womp womp womp) but I do get two or three of it crossed off. I’m always hauling books so I’m not going to unrealistically set a goal of twenty books. I’ll share a few that I’m hoping I will get into before the end of May. By the way, have you readers set reading challenges for the year? I’ve set a fifty book challenge and I am down thirteen so far(not very good) but we’ll see. No pressure!

I do like to mix up my reading as I read everything from romance to horror to fantasy etc etc and most recently I’ve been feeling the need to revisit a few classics as well as integrate children’s literature into my reading.

  1. Confess by Colleen Hoover
  2. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling (I did start reading this but I shelved it to read Miss Peregrine’s ooops!)
  3. Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens
  4. The Mortal Instruments Books 3-6 (yes, I haven’t read them yet although it’s one of my favorite series) – City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls, City of Heavenly Fire
  5. R.L. Stine – I do want to read a few R.L Stine books in the Fear Street City really soon but I’m not sure which ones yet.

Have a great weekend! xo Coffee Doll
